NRCS/Farm Bill News

SCCD shares an office and works closely with the Natural Resource Conservation Service, (NRCS) formerly the Soil Conservation Service, on helping find solutions to natural resource issues.

Snow Surveys:
An important function of the NRCS is to collect data on snowpack levels throughout the western mountains.  This information is used to predict stream discharge for the coming season.

These data will be available during the winter/spring months.

Current Data

Farm Bill:
The main instrument of the NRCS is the 2002 Farm Bill and related programs.  Watch this website for Farm Bill news and local deadlines for Farm Bill Programs. (Or, click Here for the Wyoming NRCS office and programs specific to Wyoming.)

  • Wetland Reserve Program (WRP) - Assists landowners who want to enhance existing wetlands in an environmentally beneficial and cost-effective manner.  Participant options include both:  cost-share agreements and permanent easements.
